Zlatko Šumkovski – SHUM* is architect, designer and multimedia artist based in Cologne. His practice spans art, architecture, design, media, theory, advisory services and teaching.
Since the early 2000s he has developed generative and parametric works exploring the phenomenology of blur and noise, repetition and reduction.
Alongside his artistic work he leads PONTENEO – project development entity with focus on sustainability, education and life quality.

More than a shortcut, SHUM marks a turning point in his creative activity and is defined by its Proto-Slavic meaning. The focus is on noise, a sound or signal from random fluctuations—and blur, its visual peer.

The approach highlights research on interdisciplinarity, using a fictional narrative to explore themes across art, architecture, design, media and theory. It presents ongoing and archived personal projects and activities and is updated at irregular intervals, reflecting current and previous periods, focusing primarily on intersections of art, architecture, design, media, and theory, where new challenges and dynamic changes emerge in hybrid forms, giving space for new thought and space for further research.
